DAY 56 (1 OF 3) – PALAFITOS, CASTRO, CHILOE ISLAND, CHILE

Marked as national historical monuments, the palafitos are unique architecture of Chiloe.  From street level, palafitos look like normal houses, but at the backside, they are projected over the water with stilt supports.  Many palafitos have decks at the backside used as pier for boats during high tides.  Castro offers some of the best examples of palafitos on the entire island.
